Goshen Greens

We at Goshen Greens have moved from soil based production to a hydroponic model for growing a key ingredient for parts of many meals - lettuce - in our vertical farm during the fall and winter months. Our operation has the capacity for 3500 plants in a steady rotation from seedling to ready to harvest.To reduce our collective carbon footprint, kicking the California produce habit can play a role. The electricity powering our lights and heaters in a well insulated space is from renewable sources including our own 10Kw Microfit solar panels. We are flanked on two sides by four nearby hydro dams on the Ottawa and Madawaska Rivers and we have over 2 Mw of solar production on our road alone. As climate change wreaks havoc throughout the U.S. and presents an uncertain future, food self sufficiency for Canada becomes more urgent and we are taking one small step in that direction.

Our lettuce is sustainably produced. The water for our nutrient solution is pumped from our well 250 feet down in the Canadian Shield. Integrated Pest Management techniques are implemented as necessary. Planting to harvest is a five week cycle of rotating leaf lettuce varieties ensuring tender fresh lettuce in every bag.
The horticulture side is managed by Dan who draws upon his studies and work experience in horticulture and year round indoor under lights crop production.
